The Hypocrisy of Those Who Do NOT
Believe in Eternal Security
As a Christian, I firmly believe in eternal security of all those who have faith in the only begotten Son of God! I do NOT believe we are God’s child one day and the next day we could lose our salvation because of something we have done, or even thought! Salvation is a GIFT of God (Eph.2:8-9; Rom.6:23). It is NOT something we can accomplish on our own, and there certainly is NOT anything we can do to lose it. BUT . . . we will be chastised (Heb.12:5-11).
When we TRULY believe God (1 Jn.5:1-13), and accept His only begotten Son to save us (John 3:15-18,36), we are given the Holy Spirit (Rom.8:9). Once He is given to us, He is there forever (John 14:16; 2 John 1:2). IF a person is NOT sincere in his profession of Christ, do you actually think that God will give the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Christ) to that person? NO! He will not. But IF a person really is sincere about Jesus, the Holy Spirit will be given to him, and once He is there with you, He is there forever!
As a Christian, I also firmly believe that I will go to Heaven someday. There are those who say this is arrogant, disrespectful and presumptuous. Why do I believe this? Because the Bible tells me so in many places. I will give just two:
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (KJV)
1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (KJV)
John tells us that we can KNOW we are going to Heaven. Now what I do not know is, what will be my place there. I will not know that until Judgment Day (1 Cor.3:11-15).
As Christians, we can KNOW that we are saved, because our salvation is NOT rooted in OUR merit or OUR works, but upon the finished work of Christ. Our salvation is based on God's love for undeserving sinners, NEVER on our own self-righteousness. To think that a believer is NOT eternally secure in Christ, is to lower the Christian faith to the level of some woeful religion that offers no security to i's followers. I think it great hypocrisy for anyone to claim to completely trust Jesus as Saviour for salvation, yet at the same time hold on to the self-righteous idea that they can mess things up if they backslide into sin. If that were true, our salvation would depend on man, as much as it does on God.
Jonah 2:9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. (KJV) . . . The Word of God is clear on this matter! Salvation is of the LORD!
