Moral Decay in USA is in High Gear
God CANNOT Lie!
Some people have an odd hearing disorder . . . they can hear sounds but cannot understand words. They can hear a bird sing or a dog bark, but words are like a foreign language. The problem is not the ears. It comes from an injury to the brain.
There is also another hearing disorder that is quite common, and that it spiritual deafness. This problem affects many people. This problem too, is not the ears. This problem comes from a sinful, unbelieving heart. All those without faith in Christ can read the Bible and hear the teachings of God’s Word (if they so desire), but its spiritual message is absolute foolishness to them. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. (KJV)
This explains why some people appreciate the Bible as good literature, as reliable history, and as a source of high moral standards, BUT they fail to understand its spiritual message. They CANNOT grab hold of the importance of what it says about Christ Jesus . . . His death on the cross for our sins, His resurrection and His ministry of intercession for us in Heaven today (2 John 2:1-2). These Truths make no sense to them whatsoever!
When you read the Bible, do YOU “hear” what it says? If not, ask the Lord to open your mind to understand what it is saying about Jesus (Jam.1:5; 4:3). IF you put your trust in Jesus as your personal Saviour, you shall experience a spiritual birth (John 1:12-13; 3:3-8). That is the cure for spiritual deafness.
We cannot understand God's truth
Until we know the Lord;
It's when our heart is home to Him
That we understand His Word. Author unknown.
The key to understanding the written Word is knowing the Living Word.
The Holy Spirit must be present within us before we can understand God’s Word.
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (KJV)
IF the Holy Spirit is not within a person, they are NOT God’s child.
The following Scriptures speak of spiritual deafness:
Psalm 38:13 But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth. (KJV) . . . Those who are spiritually deaf are like a deaf man that cannot hear and a dumb man who cannot speak.
Proverbs 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. (KJV) . . . When I read this, I think of Jesus’ Words: John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. (KJV) . . . IF a person does not obey God, their prayer is hated by Him. The spiritually deaf turn their ears away from hearing the Truth.
Isaiah 6:10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. (KJV) . . . The hearts of the spiritually deaf are plugged tight so that they simply cannot hear the Truth. They shut their eyes so they totally blind to the Truth. Because of this, they do not understand what God says to them, and they cannot be healed by Him.
Ezekiel 12:2 Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house. (KJV) . . . We believers, like Ezekiel, live among rebellious people. These people have ears but they refuse to use them, and they have eyes but they refuse to see what is square in front of them.
Jer. 6:10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it. (KJV) . . . God’s servants know that there will be MANY who listen but do NOT hear! Unbelievers scorn the Word of God, refusing to sincerely listen to the Truth and apply what they have heard.
Amos 8:11-12 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. (KJV) . . . . There shall come a time when God shall send a spiritual famine in the world. People shall hunger and thirst for spiritual fulfillment, but they shall not find it!
Micah 7:16 The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf. (KJV) . . . When God begins to move Israel back into their land again, the world shall again stand in absolute amazement, just like the time of their exodus from Egypt.
Consider the words of the harlot, Rahab. “For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath” (Josh. 2:10–11). The word had gotten around as to how God had taken care of His people back then. My friend, it shall happen again one day to Israel! God takes care of His people, both Jews and Gentiles! Are you one of them?? If not, why not??
Zechariah 7:11 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. (KJV) . . . But they refused to hearken . . . meaning the Jews, before their captivity. They refused to heed the warnings, refused to obey the voice of God.
And pulled away the shoulder . . . pulled away from serving the Lord, and obeying His Word, like a "backsliding heifer" (Jer.7:26; Hos.4:16; Neh.9:29; Acts 7:57), that would not submit to the yoke. The Jews could not, would not, bear the yoke of the Law, nor the burden of duty, they would not hear the words of warning, or receive the rebuke given to them.
And stopped their ears . . . so they would not hear; like the deaf adder (Ps.58:4; 106:24-29; Isa.6:10; Jer 7:26; Ac 7:57). They did not want to hear what God had to say, so they pretended they had not heard. What absolute contempt this is to the Lord, then and NOW, in today's world!
My dear friend, this same stubborn refusal to hear the Truth of God’s Word is happening today, all over the world! People act as if there is no God! They are wrong! There certainly IS a God and He is very much alive, and He shall condemn all who refuse to obey Him (Mat.3:12; 13:40,42,50; 25:41,46; Mk.9:43-48; John 3:18; 2 Thes.1:8-9; Rev.20:11-15). There shall be a Judgment Day: http://www.judgmentcoming.org/j_c_judgment_coming.htm
There IS a Hell: http://www.judgmentcoming.org/j_c_hell_is_real.htm
Matthew 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. (KJV) . . . The words of the prophet Isaiah are found several times in the New Testament, besides by Matthew in this verse, and are applied to the Jews. Isaiah 6:9-10 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. (KJV) . . . This is quoted in Mk.4:12 and Lk.8:10, where the sense of the words is quoted more shortly; and in Jn.12:40 and Rom.11:8-10 more largely, yet with some of phrase from that of the prophet. But by all of them, it appears either that God spoke those words to the prophet, as well with reference to those Jews that were to live in the time of Christ, as to those Jews who were living when Isaiah prophesied; or at least, that the words were as true of these Jews as they were of those, so the prophecy of Isaiah was fulfilled in them. Matthew speaks of their sinful act preceding, while John, Luke, Paul and Isaiah, of the judicial act of God, resulting from their sinful act. God first sent them Moses and the prophets, by whom they might have seen and known His will . . . but they would NOT see, NOT hear, NOT understand, NOT repent and NOT change, and NOT be healed. God finally left them to be condemned by their own mind. It is the same today. God will tolerate willful sin just so long and then he will turn His back on those people. A person CANNOT reject God and knowingly keep on in sin, and get away with it. BEWARE!!!
Mark 4:9-12 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. 11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: 12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. (KJV) . . . The words are a prophecy concerning the Jews, which began to be accomplished in the times of Isaiah; and were fulfilled in the times of some of the prophets (Isa.6:9-10; Eze.12:2), and had been in part fulfilled under the ministry of Christ (Mk.4:12; Lk.8:10; Jn.12:39-40), and was to be further accomplished under this parabolical (obscure, unclear) way of preaching under the ministry of the apostles (Acts 28:26-27; Rom.11:8-9). The judicial blindness here predicted was to go on among them, until the land of Judea was utterly destroyed by the Romans, and their cities and houses were left without any inhabitants. All of this came to pass, for that this prophecy refers to the times of the Messiah and to the Jews, is clear from this one observation made by Christ Himself, that Isaiah foretold those things when he saw the glory of the Messiah, and spoke of Him (Jn.12:40-41), and because it was to have, and had, its fulfillment over and over again in the Jews.
Mark 7:32 And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him. (KJV) . . . Those whose ears are opened, and whose tongues are loosed in a spiritual manner by Christ, must speak plainly of what they have heard and seen, and feel inside! They can, they MUST give a plain and clear account of the work of God on their souls, or they displease the Lord Jesus! You CANNOT sit on the fence! You CANNOT be a “closet Christian.” You must be bold! You must tell others about what Jesus has done for you! You must be willing to encourage others to go to Him, for healing, pardon, righteousness and eternal life, so they can become His heir in the everlasting Kingdom (Jn.14:1-6; 1 Pet.1:3-5).
Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand .(KJV) . . . The Gospel that was delivered to them, they heard externally, but NOT internally. They heard the sound of Christ's voice, but did NOT understand His Words, even when He spoke in the plainest and most logical manner. Neither were they interested to know the meaning of His Words, so as a result He spoke to them in this obscure and parabolic way, that they might be what they really were, seers that could not see, hearers that could not hear, that what He said would remain sealed and hidden to them, as the things contained in the sealed book (Dan.12:4) were to the Jews of old. (Mat.13:12-13).
Acts 28:26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: (KJV) . . . Isaiah spoke these words in wrath and judgment to the people of Israel, rejected from being the people of God. The people heard with physical ears but not spiritual ears! They heard, but did not understand! Just like today!
Millions have an opportunity today to hear the Gospel, which is a great blessing because it IS good news, and it is the voice of Christ Himself. They hear but do NOT understand! Seeing ye shall see . . . Paul told them they saw miracles done, but did not understand that they were the works of God.
2 Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (KJV) . . . Either in contempt, or scorn of it, as being delivered in too plain of words. The people will simply turn their backs on the only Truth that can save them! And shall be turned unto fables . . . People delight in hearing fables, any idle stories, or false discourses, provided they stay away from their lusts (1 Tim.1:4). They do NOT want to hear the Truth!
Isaiah 30:10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: (KJV) . . . This is today! Times have not changed! People do NOT want to hear the TRUTH. They do NOT want to hear that:
#1. They are sinners,
#2. They must repent (turn away from continued sin)
#3. There will be a Judgment Day
#4. There really is a Hell
#5. Jesus is the ONLY Way to Heaven
