POEMS ABOUT HUMILITY

HUMILITY

Humility is perfect quietness of heart,
Either in a crowd, or ‘lone, set apart.
It ne’er expects anything, trusts God’s grace,
And is at perfect rest when no one does praise.

Does not e’er wonder why bad things do come,
It knows with God, we have a blessed home.
It can go in, shut the door; kneel and pray,
And have perfect peace the rest of the day.

A vast deep calm, perfect peace all the way,
When troubles or disappointments start the day.
At times I’m blamed or hated in life,
But God is on my side, I don’t have strife.

Humility is being docile and meek,
Characteristics of Christ, that we should seek!
We should submit to God’s wisdom and pow’r,
When we do, He is there for us, any hour1

Humility is strength under control,
And for God’s children, it should be their goal!
Cast off pride, for it makes you God’s enemy,
Meekness makes you God’s friend, for eternity!

Scripture verses for above poem:
(Gal.5:22-23; Ep.4:1-2; Jam,1:21; 3:17; Tit.3:2;
Col.1:11; 3:13; 1 Tim.3:3; 2 Tim.2:24)

COME AS YOU ARE

You need God, this, He wants you to know,
He desires that your joy will o’er flow.
Turn to Him now, He’s not far away,
He waits to hear from you, this v’ry day.

Go to Him, like a beggar so poor,
He wants you to call on Him, this is sure.
God asks only one thing; to believe,
Without faith, not one, will He receive.

Go to Him now, with both hands empty,
God hates pride; go in humility.
The only thing full, should be your heart,
Full of remorse; then from sin, depart!

He’s waiting this day, so patiently,
He does not want you as His enemy.
God wants you to come; just as you are,
‘Whosoever’ means you, from near and far.

Young or old; in sickness or in health,
A poor lonely beggar, or man of wealth.
God offers salvation, thru’ His Son,
Believe and repent; Heav’n will be won!

PRAYER

The less I pray, the harder things get,
Trials and troubles, always beset.
The more I pray, the better things are,
I need wisdom that comes from afar.

His best answers come at His own pace,
We must be patient, and wait for His grace.
He alone knows what for us is best,
Sometimes He’ll say “No” to our request.

Delayed answers are trials of faith,
Honor Him, with your every breath.
Confidence in Him should be steadfast,
Our faith should be strong, one that will last.

To be humble means we can’t go alone,
We need His help, lest we stumble and groan.
Your faith is renewed when you pray,
So go to Him oft’ thru’ ev’ry day.

Much words without heart; this God does hate,
Few words from the heart; will ne’er frustrate.
When you pray, you grasp God’s willingness,
Prayer from the heart; He’ll always bless!

God makes many promises; all so great,
All null and void, ‘less we grab them in faith.
They can come to life for me and you,
By trust, faith and prayer; always true.

PRAISING GOD

Praising God creates humility,
Removes sinful pride, which is faulty.
My conceited ego flies away,
Giving room for meekness; a better way!

Praising God releases joy untold,
Joy that’s there always, to have and hold.
Joy unspeakable, and full of glory,
Now and for e’er, for eternity.

Praising God clears clutter from my mind,
Tensions are gone; worries are behind.
Calm and comfort, are freely given,
By our wondrous God high in Heaven.

Praising God casts out sin’s misery,
For when I repent, He forgives me.
When we confess our sins, one by one,
We’re cleansed by the Blood of God’s Son.

Praising God makes me want just His will,
I want to please Him, and good instill.
When His Spirit fills me to the brim,
The things of the world, grow very dim.

Praising God is an honor to me,
For He has given me victory.
Eternal life in Heaven above,
Thanks be to our Saviour’s precious love.

AT THE FOOT OF THE CROSS

We must start at the foot of the Cross,
For our soul’s in danger, we’re at loss.
And when we kneel in that awesome place,
At that very moment, you’ll feel God’s grace.

Friend, let me tell you; you need to know,
There is Heaven; also Hell below!
Christ died on that Cross, to set you free,
From your vile sins, and Hell’s agony.

You’re God’s enemy, without the Cross,
Reject Christ, and to God, you are dross.
To the prison of Hell, He will send,
Just Christ’s work on the Cross, makes amends.

God hates those who try to enter in
The gates of Heaven, still full of sin.
Only His Son, can take sin away,
Go to the foot of the Cross, this day.

God has provided only ONE Way,
To enter Heaven’s wondrous array.
Accept what Jesus did for us all,
He paid our debt, so Hell won’t befall.

Go to the foot of the Cross this day,
His precious Blood washes sin away.
We each need to think more of His Cross,
Without our Saviour, we’re total loss.

Scripture verses for above poem:
(Ro.5:1-2,8-10; 8:6-9; Jam.4:4; Ep.2:15-16; Gal.6:14;
Phil.3:18; Col.1:20; 2:14; Pro.13:13; 1 P.1:18-19)

IN GOD’S EYES

The start of greatness is to be meek,
And in all things our God we should seek.
God uses the small in a large way,
The start of it all is to trust and obey.

To increase greatness we must be less,
Striving to serve Him, we will progress.
Christ’s sheep have two marks; the ears and feet,
They hear, they follow; ever so fleet.

Perfect greatness is to admit we’re nought,
With His precious Blood our souls He bought.
We’re nothing at all without the Lord,
He is much worthy to be adored.

Scripture verses for above poem:
(Pro.22:4; 29:23; Is.57:15; Mt.18:4; Lu.14:10; 18:14;
Mic.6:8; Ep.3:8; Ro.12:3; Jam.4:10; Phil.2:5)

This poem written after reading D.L.Moody’s words:

“The beginning of greatness is to be little,
The increase of greatness is to be less,
The perfection of greatness is to be nothing.”

WHY??

Lord Jesus, why can’t I be more like you?
Why do I do the awful things I do?
I want to be kind and loving, yet I sin,
The old sinful nature just seems to win.

Instead of the harsh angry words I say,
Why can’t I your loving nature display?
My ready tongue is my worst enemy,
I ask your forgiveness and mercy.

Lord, let me pattern my life after you,
Help me to live life with your virtues.
Help me to do things in a better way,
Help me dear Lord, to trust and obey.

I do many things to hurt those around,
Evil deeds and words from me do abound.
When I hurt them, I hurt You, I know,
Please forgive me and your mercy show.

Lord, let your Spirit direct and guide,
Let me be humble, take away my pride.
Lord, let me be like you want me to be,
Lord Jesus, let me live more righteously.
