God's Tremendous Promises on Temptation
Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (KJV) . . . A wonderful suggestion to memorize Scriptures.
Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. (KJV) . . . Do NOT try to hide your sins from God! 1 John 1:8-9 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV)
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. (KJV) . . . Sin should NEVER be a Christian’s master. We should obey God. God’s grace gives us the desire and power to obey Him. Sin is no longer our master, Christ Jesus is your one and only Master! We are no longer controlled by laws, which enslaves you to sin. Instead, we are freed from sin by the marvelous grace of God. Don’t ever allow sin to be your master again! The Law was given to show us we are sinners. God’s children do not live by their old Adamic nature. We have a new nature given to us by the Holy Spirit of God (Rom.8:9).
1 Corinthians 10:12-13 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (KJV) . . . See our Commentary on First Corinthians: . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/1_cor_ch10.htm
Ephesians 6:10-11 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (KJV) . . . See our Commentary on Ephesians: http://www.godcannotlie.org/eph_ch6.htm
Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (KJV) . . . This shield is very important and must always be carried. This symbol is taken from the Roman shield, which was a large oblong or oval, approximately four feet high by two feet wide. The fiery darts of the wicked . . . the ancient fire-dart was an arrow made of cane with a flammable head that was lighted and used to set fire to wood, tents, etc. of the wicked. Faith in Jesus conquers Satan's temptations to wrath, lust, despair, vengeance (1 Pet.5:9). Faith in Jesus overcomes sin and evil in the world (1 Jn.5:4), and will also overcome Satan, the ruler of this world (1 Jn.5:18).
Hebrews 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. (KJV) . . . See our Commentary of Hebrews: . . . . . . . .. http://www.godcannotlie.org/book_of_hebrews_ch2.htm
Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (KJV) . . . See our Commentary on Hebrews: http://www.godcannotlie.org/book_of_hebrews_ch4.htm
James 1:2-3 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. (KJV) . . . See our Commentary on James: http://www.godcannotlie.org/james_commentary_ch1.htm
James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. (KJV) . . . See our Commentary on James: http://www.godcannotlie.org/james_commentary_ch1.htm
James 1:13-14 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. (KJV) . . . . See our Commentary on James: http://www.godcannotlie.org/james_commentary_ch1.htm
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (KJV) . . . See Our Commentary on James: http://www.godcannotlie.org/james_commentary_ch4.htm
1 Peter 1:6-7 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: (KJV) . . . . See our Commentary on First Peter: . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/1_peter_ch.1.htm
1 Peter 5:8-9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. (KJV) . . . . See our Commentary on First Peter: http://www.godcannotlie.org/1_peter_ch.5.htm
2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: (KJV) . . . See our Commentary on Sedond Peter: http://www.godcannotlie.org/1_peter_ch.2.htm
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV) . . . See our Commentary on First John: . . . . . .http://www.godcannotlie.org/first_john_ch1.htm
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (KJV) . . . See our Commentary on First John: http://www.godcannotlie.org/first_john_ch4.htm
Jude 1:24-25 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. (KJV) . . . See our Commentary on Jude: . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/book_of_jude.htm
