SERVANTS' MINISTRY

WHY
DOES GOD SEEM SO FAR AWAY?
There
are times that God seems like He’s a million
miles away, even to the best Christians.
Why is that? The Bible says God is ‘omnipresent’
which means God is present everywhere
at the same time. And too, God is ‘immanent’
meaning that God penetrates everything,
He is inherent, He operates within us,
so HOW can He be far away???
God
created Hell for all people who are unlike
Him. For all who are morally not like
God, Hell will be their final and eternal
residence. For all those who are morally
similar to God, Heaven will be their eternal
home for that is where their nature belongs.
So,
how do people become like God? that we
can spend eternity in Heaven --- instead
of Hell? We must be reconciled to God. We inherit from Adam and Eve our
sinful nature. We are actually God’s enemies
(Psalm 58:3; Jeremiah 2:5; Ezekiel 14:5;
Ephesians 2:12; 4:18; Colossions 1:20-21).
So --- how can we be reconciled
to God? Romans 5:10 For if,
when we were enemies, we were reconciled
to God by the death of his Son, much more,
being reconciled, we shall be saved by
his life. [KJV] Only by the Blood
of Jesus can we ever be God’s friend.
Only by the Blood of Jesus can we ever
hope to be anything like God. We must
believe God and accept Jesus and what
He did on the cross for us (the world).
Reconciliation
to God is accomplished by three completely
Divine acts.
Atonement. This
is the Work Christ did on the cross, before
any of us were even born. It is something
He did alone, in the dark, on that
horrendous cross. The huge nails pounded
into His Hands and Feet, and the spear
that pierced His precious Side. That is
atonement. He took our place
so we could be friends with
God.
Romans
5:11 And not only so, but we also joy
in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom we have now received the atonement.
[KJV]
Justification, a big word for a big thing! Romans
5:1 Therefore being justified by
faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ: [KJV] Justification
makes us righteous in God’s eyes. God
declares us "not guilty"
in the courts of Heaven. Justify = just
as if I’d never sinned.
Regeneration. When we are justified, we are regenerated
at the same time. Regeneration is the
same as being "born
again." Regeneration
is when God gives us a little of His Holy
and Divine nature. 2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding
great and precious promises: that by these
ye might be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is
in the world through lust. [KJV] We
receive a new nature, similar to God,
and which gives us eternal life.
Our
‘unlikeness’ to God can be reconciled
only by this One (Jesus) who is both God
and Man. There is NO way we could ever
teach ourselves to be ‘like God.’ There
is NO way we could ever enlighten ourselves
to be ‘like God.’ We can NEVER right ourselves.
But consider this: God will NEVER compromise
Himself. He will NEVER give in to our
sinful nature because He is so pure and
just. It is we who must admit He is right
and we are wrong. God will NEVER meet
us half way because He must stay what
and who He is, faithful, pure, righteous
and never changing. We really do NOT want
God to compromise. We do NOT want Him
to pass over our sins and iniquities.
We want God to make us right. We want
God to be the Holy and perfect God that
He is. And He will make us right when we repent and turn to Him.
So,
as you see, reconciliation to God, is
brought about by three separate and distinct
acts of God. He performs these wondrous
acts the moment we repent and turn to
Jesus. It is our faith that starts
the ‘ball rolling.’ God will NEVER force
Himself on anyone. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the
gift of God: 9Not of works,
lest any man should boast. [KJV]
Is
God in Hell, or isn’t He?
Psalm
139:7-10 Whither shall I go
from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee
from thy presence? [8] If I ascend up
into heaven, thou art there: if I make
my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
[9] If I take the wings of the morning,
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the
sea; [10] Even there shall thy hand lead
me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
[KJV]
2
Thessalonians 1:8-9 In flaming
fire taking vengeance on them that know
not God, and that obey not the gospel
of our Lord Jesus Christ: [9] Who shall
be punished with everlasting destruction
from the presence of the Lord, and from
the glory of his power. [KJV]
These two verses seem to contradict each
other. IF God is present everywhere
(including Hell) why does the verses in
Thessalonians say EVERYONE in Hell
will be cut off from the Presence of God?
God
had to create Hell for all the millions
of people who simply refuse to become
like Him. Yes, God’s Presence is in Hell,
but His manifest (conscious) Presence
is not. God’s conscious Presence is only
in Heaven and with all believers who truly
repent of their sins and make every effort
to become more like God with each passing
day.
Sin causes moral incompatibility in the human
race. Sin alienates us from
a pure and perfect God, making it impossible
to live in harmony with Him. Sin causes God’s Presence to seem far
away, when in fact, He is as near as your
next breath. Sin makes us
dissimilar (unlike) God, and we can’t
feel that wondrous, loving awareness that
God is near to us. We must REPENT to have God’s conscious Presence restored
within us.
Do
you follow the Lord just from afar off?
If you do, can you live with that? Can
you live in the dim twilight rather than
in the glorious Light of our Lord? Can
you live in the chill of the world rather
than in the warmth of His love? Do you
ever shed any tears for the lack of His
manifest, conscious Presence in your life?
Do you ever even think of your unlikeness
to God? Do you feel a total sense of remoteness
from God in your heart? Do you know He’s
there but you just can’t feel Him there?
We need to repent of our unlikeness, unholiness,
self-indulgence, harshness, unforgiveness,
and lack of love. We need to leave our
state of lukewarmness and be "on
fire" for the Lord! Then we will feel that absolutely marvelous
close feeling to our awesome God.
