Genesis 1:1 In the
beginning God created the heaven and the earth. [KJV]
God did not need to create the universe; He chose to create it. Why? God is love, and love is best
stated toward something or someone else. God created the world
and people as an expression of His love. God created the universe
because he loves each of us.
Genesis 22:11 And the angel
of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham,
Abraham: and he said, Here am I. [KJV]
Deut. 4:39 That the Lord
he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there
is none else. [KJV]
1 Kings 8:39 Then hear thou
in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give
to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest;
(for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children
of men;) [KJV]
2 Kings 2:11 And it came
to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold,
there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and
parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind
into heaven. [KJV]
1 Chron. 29:11 Thine, O
Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and
the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven
and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and
thou art exalted as head above all. [KJV]
2 Chron. 2:6-A But who is
able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of
heavens cannot contain him? . . . [KJV]
Psalm 11:4 The Lord is in
his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: his eyes
behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. [KJV]
Psalm 33:13 The
Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
[KJV]
Psalm 73:25 Whom have I
in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire
beside thee. [KJV]
Psalm 102:19 From heaven
did the Lord behold the earth; [KJV]
Psalm 103:11 For as the
heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward
them that fear him. [KJV]
Psalm 115:15-16 Ye are blessed
of the Lord which made heaven and earth. [16] The heaven,
even the heavens, are the Lord's: but the earth hath he given
to the children of men. [KJV]
Psalm 119:89 For ever, O
Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. [KJV]
Psalm 121:2 My help cometh
from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. [KJV]
Psalm 124:8 Our help is
in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. [KJV]
Psalm 136:26 O give thanks
unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Proverbs 30:4 Who hath ascended
up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in
his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath
established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and
what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? [KJV]
Eccles. 5:2 Be not rash
with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter
any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon
earth: therefore let thy words be few. [KJV]
Isaiah 14:12-14 How art
thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how
art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
[13] For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into
heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will
sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides
of the north: [14] I will ascend above the heights of the
clouds; I will be like the most High. [KJV]
Isaiah 40:12-31 Who hath
measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out
heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth
in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the
hills in a balance? [13] Who hath directed the Spirit of the
Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him? [14] With whom
took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in
the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed
to him the way of understanding? [15] Behold, the nations
are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust
of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little
thing. [16] And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the
beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering. [17] All nations
before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less
than nothing, and vanity. [25] To whom then will ye liken
me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. [26] Lift up
your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things,
that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all
by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong
in power; not one faileth. [28] Hast thou not known? hast
thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator
of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?
there is no searching of his understanding.
Isaiah 66:1-A Thus saith
the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool:
. . . [KJV]
Jeremiah 32:17 Ah Lord God!
behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great
power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard
for thee: [KJV]
Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice
from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am
well pleased. [KJV]
Matthew 5:16 Let
your light so shine before men, that they may see your good
works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
[KJV]
Matthew 5:48-6:1 Be
ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven
is perfect. [6:1] Take heed that ye do not your alms before
men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your
Father which is in heaven. [KJV]
How
can we be perfect?
-
(1) In
character. We can strive to be as much like Christ as we can. The
Holy Spirit will help us.
-
(2) In
holiness. We are to separate ourselves from the world’s sinful values.
We are to be devoted to God’s will rather than our own,
and carry His love and mercy into the world.
-
(3) In
maturity. We can’t have a Christlike character and holy living all
in one day. This is not an overnight thing!
-
(4) In love. We can really try, really give it our best shot,
to love others as completely as God loves us. We can be
perfect if our behavior is suitable for our maturity level.
Perfect, but with much room to grow. Our desire to sin
must never hinder us from really trying to be more like
Christ. Christ’s disciples must mature in every area,
becoming more like Him every day. Those who strive to
become perfect will one day be perfect, even as Christ
is perfect (1 John 3:2-3). Matthew 6:9-10 After
this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in
heaven, Hallowed be thy name. [10] Thy kingdom come. Thy
will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
[KJV]
Matthew 7:21 Not
every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into
the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33 Whosoever
therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess
also before my Father which is in heaven. [33] But whosoever
shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father
which is in heaven. [KJV]
Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding
in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you;
but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
[KJV]
John 14:1-3 Let
not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also
in me. [2] In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were
not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for
you. [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come
again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there
ye may be also. [KJV]
Luke 16:22-23 And
it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by
the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and
was buried; [23] And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in
torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
[KJV]
Luke 23:40-43 But the other
answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing
thou art in the same condemnation? [41] And we indeed justly;
for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath
done nothing amiss. [42] And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember
me when thou comest into thy kingdom. [43] And Jesus said
unto him, Verily I say unto thee,
To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. [KJV]
2 Cor. 12:4 How that he
was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words,
which it is not lawful for a man to utter. [KJV]
Rev. 2:7 He
that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto
the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of
the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of
God. [KJV]

-
Called
a Garner. Matthew 3:12 Whose
fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor,
and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn
up the chaff with unquenchable fire. [KJV]
-
The Kingdom of
Christ and of God. Ephes.
5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor
unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater,
hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
[KJV]
-
The
Father’s House. John 14:2 In
my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so,
I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
[KJV]
-
A
Heavenly Country. Hebrews 11:16 But now they desire
a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God
is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared
for them a city. [KJV]
-
A Rest. Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest
to the people of God. [KJV] Rev. 14:13 And
I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed
are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea,
saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours;
and their works do follow them. [KJV]
-
Paradise. 2 Cor. 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above
fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell;
or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
such an one caught up to the third heaven. [KJV] Paul
was caught up into the third heaven (God’s Home). 2
Cor. 12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise,
and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for
a man to utter. [KJV] Paul heard things so astounding
(amazing, astonishing, remarkable, wonderful) that they
cannot be told. Heaven cannot be described, it is that
beautiful.
-
New Jerusalem. Rev. 3:12 Him that
overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God,
and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him
the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God,
which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven
from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
[KJV] Rev. 21:3-4 And I heard a great voice
out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is
with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall
be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and
be their God. [4] And God shall wipe away all tears from
their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither
sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain:
for the former things are passed away. [KJV] Rev.
21:15-17 And he that talked with me had a golden
reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the
wall thereof. [16] And the city lieth foursquare, and
the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured
the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The
length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
[17] And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and
forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man,
that is, of the angel. [KJV] Rev. 21:25-27 And
the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there
shall be no night there. [26] And they shall bring the
glory and honour of the nations into it. [27] And there
shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth,
neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh
a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of
life. [KJV]
-
The
wicked excluded from. Galatians 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such
like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told
you in time past, that they which do such things shall
not inherit the kingdom of God. [KJV] Ephes. 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean
person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any
inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [KJV] Rev. 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving,
and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and
sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their
part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:
which is the second death. [KJV] Rev. 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing
that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination,
or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's
book of life. [KJV] Rev. 22:15 For without
are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers,
and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
